Melissa and Dylan's young love story began in high school, and they have been together ever since. Their love is sweet, understanding, and adventurous, and they have the sweetest little boy named Kash with huge blue eyes and an infectious smile. I've been lucky enough to photograph their family since 2021, and it was an honour to be there to capture their big day. Their wedding took place on a beautiful acreage about an hour outside of Edmonton. The location was perfect for their family and friends to camp out and celebrate. It was a sunny July day with clear blue skies, and everyone enjoyed drinks and good times.
The day began with Melissa getting Kash ready for the wedding, helping him put on his tiny suit and making sure he looked his best. This sweet moment truly highlighted the love and connection of a young family for me. Shortly after, Dylan read the letter Melissa wrote for him with Kash by his side. It was a heartwarming moment that demonstrated the strong bond between the couple and their son. As the wedding ceremony approached, the sky was blue and the sun was shining. Melissa and Dylan exchanged vows and became husband and wife in a touching ceremony surrounded by their loved ones.
The reception was filled with laughter and joy, but one of the most memorable moments was when the bridal party kicked off the evening in a completely unique way, a flippy cup tournament! It was such a sweet way to kick off the party and a perfect testament to the fun-natured love these two share. Even though the girls almost won, the boys came back in the final moments and secured victory in the end.
As the evening went on, the sun began to set, and we snuck away down to the lake for some breathtaking sunset photos. The valley of the lake was flooded with a warm golden sun, and it was the perfect backdrop for some intimate moments between the newlyweds. We captured their love, and popped some champagne to commemorate such a momentous day.
Just as we finished up ringing in the newly weds with sparklers, a short-lived storm rolled in, bringing good luck on their wedding day, as many believe. But the storm didn't put a damper on the celebration; instead, it added to the excitement and brought everyone closer together. Melissa and Dylan's wedding was a beautiful representation of was a beautiful celebration of young love and family. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and joy, and I'm just so grateful to have been a part of it.
